Bridging Mathematics, Analytical Thinking and Thoughtful Technology
Welcome!
Hello! I’m Gemma Keating.
I am a Mathematics teacher and EdTech enthusiast based in Hong Kong, dedicated to a simple but vital mission: ensuring technology serves as a bridge to deeper thinking, not a shortcut around it.
With over a decade of experience navigating the rigor of IBDP Mathematics, I know that the most effective classroom tools aren't always the flashiest. My focus is on sustainable tech integration—moving beyond the "gamification" of learning to find digital strategies that foster genuine inquiry, analytical validation, and long-term retention.
My Approach: Pedagogy First, Tools Second
I believe the modern classroom should be a place where technology empowers students to become better thinkers. In an era of rapid AI development, my work centers on helping both students and educators navigate this landscape with confidence and skepticism.
-
The Classroom as a Lab: As a current practitioner, I test every strategy in real-time. Whether it’s using digital modeling to deconstruct complex functions or leveraging AI to critique student-led inquiries, my methods are born from the reality of daily teaching.
-
Sustainable PD & Partnership: I am passionate about supporting my fellow educators. I advocate for "low-stress, high-impact" tech adoption—finding solutions that enhance our teaching without adding to an already heavy workload. I thrive on collaboration, helping colleagues move from digital literacy to true digital fluency.
-
The ABCE Framework: I am the creator of the Analytical Thinking Cards, a cross-curricular resource designed to help students evaluate AI-generated content for Accuracy, Bias, Completeness, and Ethics. This initiative reflects my commitment to building transferable skills that serve students far beyond the math classroom.
Let’s Connect
Beyond the screen and the whiteboard, you’ll likely find me baking, walking through the country parks or planning my next cultural trek. I am a firm believer that a community that values curiosity and growth can build a lasting, thoughtful digital future.
I’m always happy to share resources, ideas, or simply chat about how we can make tech work better for our students. Let’s build something meaningful together.
